Faculty 18 will serve as an institutional and academic platform to raise awareness about the Palestinian people, as well as a permanent link with the Palestinian university system, starting with the three public universities in the Gaza Strip (Islamic University of Gaza, Al-Azhar University, Al-Aqsa University). It will also act as an institutional umbrella for all the actions already being carried out, such as the UB Refugi programme, the BASE project and others within the framework of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED). The initiative is being promoted in coordination with the municipal government.

Specific Programs & Initiatives

  • Chair on Palestine: Launched in collaboration with the Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia, this is a pioneering academic chair entirely dedicated to the analysis, study, and dissemination of topics related to Palestinian reality.
  • UB Refugi and BASE: The university’s historic programs dedicated to the reception, protection, and integration of students and academics who are refugees or from conflict zones are integrated under Faculty 18.
  • Reconstruction Campaign with UNRWA: An institutional fundraising initiative managed in coordination with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, specifically aimed at restoring destroyed university infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
